The short versionWe collect your email to run your account, and your listening activity to power recommendations. We do not sell your data. Ever. You can delete your account at any time.
1. Who We Are
Sonveil Inc. ("Sonveil," "we," "our," or "us") operates the Sonveil music discovery platform, available at sonveil.app and through our iOS and Android apps. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information about you when you use our services.

2. Information We Collect
Information you provide to us:
- Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password you choose. Artists additionally provide their name, genre, location, biography, and links to external profiles.
- Artist applications: If you apply to the FairWave Artist Program, we collect the information you submit in your application form.
- Waitlist signups: We collect your email address when you join our waitlist.
- Profile updates: Any information you voluntarily add to your profile.
Information generated by your use of Sonveil:
- Listening history: Tracks you play, skip, or save, used to personalize your recommendations.
- Tips: Records of tips you send to artists, including amounts and timestamps.
- Preferences: Settings you configure, such as your serendipity level and AI filter settings.
- Device information: Device type, operating system version, and app version, used for debugging and compatibility.
Information we do not collect:
- We do not access your contacts, location, camera, or microphone.
- We do not collect payment card details directly — payments are handled by Stripe, which has its own privacy policy.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the service: Running your account, delivering your personalized music feed, processing tips, and operating the FairWave royalty system.
- To send communications: Sonveil Weekly emails (15 human-curated tracks every Monday), account notifications, and artist payment summaries. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.
- To improve Sonveil: Aggregate, anonymized usage data helps us understand what features work and which need improvement.
- To verify artists: Artist application information is reviewed by our team as part of the HumanVerified™ certification process.
- To comply with law: We may use or disclose information if required by applicable law or legal process.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers: We use Supabase (database and authentication), Resend (email delivery), and Stripe (payments). These providers process data on our behalf under data processing agreements.
- Artists: When you tip an artist, the artist can see that a tip was received but does not receive your personal identifying information.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Sonveil, our users, or others.
- Business transfers: If Sonveil is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred. We will notify you before this happens.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in the United States using Supabase (hosted on AWS). We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (TLS), Row Level Security on our database so users can only access their own data, and access controls limiting who on our team can access personal data.
No system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a breach affecting your data, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes (such as records of financial transactions).
Anonymized, aggregated data (such as total stream counts) may be retained indefinitely.
7. Your Rights and Choices
- Access: You can view your account information at any time in the app.
- Correction: You can update your profile information in the app settings or artist dashboard.
- Deletion: You can delete your account from the Profile → Privacy section of the app. We will delete your personal data within 30 days.
- Email opt-out: Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email us at privacy@sonveil.app to be removed.
- California residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information).
- European residents (GDPR): You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and to object to processing. Contact us at privacy@sonveil.app to exercise these rights.
8. Children's Privacy
Sonveil is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@sonveil.app and we will delete it.
9. Third-Party Links
The Sonveil app and website may contain links to third-party services such as Spotify, SoundCloud, or artist websites. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party services, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by prominent notice in the app. The "Effective date" at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised. Continued use of Sonveil after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
